A former TV producer has argued that puppets Bert and Ernie should not be used as launchpads to advocate pro-gay politics. At the end of the article is a poll asking people if they agree or disagree with the question Should children’s characters be used to teach acceptance of gays and lesbians? Tellingly, 76% of the first 1,478 respondents – myself included- said ‘No’. (The Sydney Morning Herald is tends to be pro-gay, as is its general readership.) I find it staggering that adults can be so morally compromised that they will read homosexuality and any other types of deviant sexual expression into something as innocent as children’s programmes. A similar article was written by an Exodus International leader. Hat tip to you, Ros Marsden.
